Kelly Gene Herrington, 84, of Magee passed away on Friday, October 17, 2014.
Kelly was born on November 15, 1929 in Magee, MS to the late Burnice and Willie Herrington. He attended Magee High School and joined the United States Marine Corps. Kelly was a deputy Sheriff for Simpson County from 1956-1960 alongside his brother, Cecil Herrington (Sheriff). He worked as a MS State Highway Patrolman for 30 years where he retired. He is a member and a deacon of Siloam Baptist Church. He was an avid Turkey hunter and fisherman.
Kelly is survived by his wife, Dorothy Pope Herrington; sons, Kenny and Tommy Herrington; daughter, Vicki Gore; brothers, Ted and Cecil Herrington and eight grandchildren;
Kelly Herrington III (Pam), Keri Ladner (Jonny), Chad Walker (Carrie), Dee Miller (Brian) Christy Walker (Douglas), Jason Herrington (Ashley), Brian Herrington (Alaina) and Eric Herrington. He also had fourteen beloved great grandchildren. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Kelly Herrington.
Tutor Funeral Home of Magee is entrusted with arrangements. Visitation will be held at Siloam Baptist Church in Magee, on Sunday, October 19, 2014 from 12:00 to 2:00 pm with the service following at 2:00 pm. Bro. Raymond Jeffcoat and Bro.
