Dick Welch, Magee, MS

Dick Welch, 82, of Magee, MS departed this life on Thursday, October 2, 2014. He was born on April 19, 1932, to Enos G. and Dollie Mae (Brown) Welch of Magee where he was raised in the Rials Creek community.

Dick attended Magee High School and later Hinds Community College where he was a star football player. He married Frances Jones on January 17, 1952 and started his family. In 1952 he began his career at Fagan Chevrolet which later became Williams Chevrolet. He enjoyed his career as a car salesman for over 55 years until his retirement in 2009. He loved to reminisce with people about selling them their first car. During his retirement he enjoyed working on his farm and sharing his life with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Frances Jones Welch, and his two sons, David (Denise) and Danny (Angie). He is also survived by six grandchildren, Donny (Stephanie) Welch, DeAnna (Jay) Walker, DeShea (Marney) Walker, Dana (Brett) Duncan, Deidra (Zach) Baldwin, and Dollie (Tyson) Tutor. He also leaves behind fifteen great grandchildren who loved and adored him dearly: Ryan, Riley and Marlee Welch; Anna Claire, Kyle and Koby Walker; Kade, Kolt and Lucy Walker; Braden, Mallory and Maggie Duncan; Braxton, Barrett and Banks Baldwin. He is also survived by two sisters, Cora Bell (Brelon) Roberts, and Janie (Mack) McAlpin and a host of nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his mother and father; a brother, Lennis Welch; three sisters, Loree Sullivan, Eunice Anderson, and Eva Mae Grayson.

Visitation will be held Saturday, October 4, 2014, from 5-8 pm at Tutor Funeral Home in Magee. A short visitation will also be held on Sunday, October 5, from 1-2 pm at Goodwater Baptist Church with the funeral service following at 2 pm.
