John McPhail, 81, was born on October 25, 1932, in Carthage, MS. He died at his home in D'Lo, MS, surrounded by his family after a brief illness, on April 5, 2014.
He attended Forest Hill High School in Jackson and was a member of Holly Grove Baptist Church in Braxton. He has been self-employed his entire life. If it could be bought, sold, or traded, he did it. He has been in the mobile home business in D'Lo for 21 years. He had a way with people and was easily loved and admired by family, friends and complete strangers. He was a man of his word. He will always be remembered for his soft spoken voice, kind and encouraging words, and enormous heart.
John McPhail was preceded in death by his father, J.D. McPhail; Mother, Bonnie Grace Brantley McPhail; brother, Joe K. McPhail; sister, Mavis Dawson; nephew, Robert White; first wife, Mary Ann Carr McPhail Barber (mother of surviving children: Leah (J.D.) Draughon of Mexico, Tina McPhail Harper and John "Andy" McPhail, Jr. of Crosby, TX). John McPhail is survived by his second wife of 42 years, Frances Ann Allred McPhail, mother of surviving daughter, Andrea (Clyde) Phillipson of Braxton, MS; four grandchildren, James Harper, Casey McPhail, Leisa McCrary and Kayla Phillipson; one great grandchild, Aaron Harper, and his precious chihuahua, Honey, and lots of nieces and nephews that all loved him dearly.
