Junior Grubbs, 89, passed away Thursday, May 29, 2014 at Magee General Hospital. He was born on May 13, 1925 to the parents of Leona (Ainsworth) and Daniel Lott Grubbs.
Junior is a Navy Veteran of World War II. He served on the USS Maryland Battleship in the Pacific Theater, where he held the title of the Bantem Weight Boxing Champion. He retired with MS Power and Light Company as a plant operator. He served as a Magee City Alderman for over 20 years. He also drove for the local ambulance company. He was a deacon and the church custodian at First Baptist Church in Magee.
Survivors include a sister, Nell Fitzpatrick: a host of nieces and nephews and special friend, Vera Sullivan. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Johnny Bess (Mangum) Grubbs; three brothers, Dan, Gillard and Alvis Grubbs; two sisters, Willie Merle Little and Alice Buckley.
Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church in Magee , Saturday, May 31, at 11:00 am with visitation at the church two hours prior to the service.
