Douglas George Gosa, age 72, passed away on Friday, January 16, 2015, at his home. A native of Spalding County, GA, he was a son of the late Sam Ethron and Mattie Mae Smith Gosa, and devoted husband of 34 years to Maria Julian Gosa.
George was a man of many talents and passions. He was a hero to many and a handsome prince to Maria. He will be greatly missed by his loving children: Georganna Marie McDonald of Braxton, MS, Emma Noelle Gosa of Decatur, GA; his children with Barbara Smith: Stephen Gosa of Buford, GA, Tina Averette of Covington, GA; brothers: Sam Gosa of Blairsville, GA, and Billy Joe Gosa of Marietta, GA; sisters: Betty Guard of Kennesaw, GA, and Jeanette Hill of Powder Springs, GA; grandchildren: Jenna Rae Gosa, Leah Shea Zavadil, Stephen Chase Gosa, Brandie Hand, Branden Smith, Thomas Patterson and Havana McDonald; great grandchildren: Austin, Dalton, and Katelynn; his mother-in-law, Emma, whom he loved just like she was his own; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family. He was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters.
Arrangements entrusted to Tutor Funeral Home of Mendenhall, MS. A service celebrating George’s life will be held at 1 PM, Friday, January 23, at Corinth Baptist Church, 207 Church Road Magee, MS, with Brother Jay Wesbrooks officiating. The family will receive friends at 11 AM prior to the service in the sanctuary.
