Bowers Hankins Jr., (Junior as he was known by many) passed away Friday, January 22, 2016, at the age of 77. He was born on March 12, 1938, to his parents, the late Bowers Hankins, Sr. and Esther (Walker) Hankins.
He was a retired businessman and entrepreneur. Anything Junior set his mind on to accomplish, he did it. He was a huge supporter of Simpson County Academy. Junior was devoted to his family, his friends and his church, where he is was an active member of Corinth Baptist Church from an early age.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sara (Shows) Hankins; two sons, Mike Hankins (Lisa), Mark Hankins; one daughter, Susan Hankins Miller (Mike); brother, J. L. Hankins; two sisters, Peggy Kennedy, Emma Lois May; seven grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bowers and Esther Hankins; brothers, Willard Hankins, Billy Ray Hankins; sister, Vivian Welch and grandchild, Jessica Hankins.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 28, 2016, from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Tutor Funeral Home in Magee. The service is Friday, January 29, at 11:00 a.m. at Corinth Baptist Church with additional visitation from 8:00 a.m. until service at the church. Final resting place will follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Leo May, Rev. Sidney Davis and Rev. Jay Wesbrooks will officiate.
