Buford "Bo"Griffith, Magee, MS

On Friday, August 19, 2016, Buford "Bo" Griffith, 92, went to be with his Savior and Lord Jesus Christ, where he will celebrate and joyfully praise God eternally.  He passed away at his home near Magee, surrounded by his family.  Bo was the tenth of twelve children, born on June 12, 1924, to John Clifton Griffith and Susan Ella Hemby Griffith, in the Clem Community of Jefferson Davis County.  He was a World War II Veteran serving with the Navy's Seabees in the Pacific Campaign and one of our "Greatest Generations." He was also a Mason with the Oak Hill Lodge #553 for 59 years. He was a deacon at Corinth Baptist Church in Simpson County.

Bo married Margie Bridges on July 3, 1946. They moved to Jackson, where he was a supervisor for MPI and Magnavox.  He and Margie were founding members of Robinson Street Baptist Church on Ellis Avenue.  In 1972, Bo and Margie moved to Simpson County, where he farmed and worked as a supervisor for Sanderson Farms.  Margie passed away in 2002.  Bo married Ruby Wachter of Shaw in November 2006.

Bo is survived by his wife, Ruby Wachter Griffith; their four daughters, Judy Watts (Tom), Annette Geoghegan (James), Debbie Banard (Gary), Donna Williamson (Neal); two sons, Bill Wachter (Cindy), Jimmy Wachter (Bernadette); eight grandchildren, Shelly Watts-Dognazzi, Kristi Thomas, Kimberly Black, Ashlea White, Drew Morgan, Kyle Geoghegan, Shannon Stalsonburg, Ben Murphy; twenty-three great grandchildren; two sisters, Ola Stanford, Ann Frazier and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at Tutor Funeral Home in Magee, MS on Monday, August 22, 2016, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.  Services will be Tuesday, August 23, 2016, at Tutor Funeral Home with an hour of visitation prior to the service at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Danny Dickerson officiating. Interment will follow at Whitesand Baptist Church Cemetery in Prentiss, MS.

The family would like to give special thanks to everyone at Gentiva Hospice for all of their help and compassion during this time.
