A full and loving earthly life ended on Friday night, November 10, 2017 and at that very moment a new and glorious life began for Ruby Rankin.
A celebration of Ruby’s life will be held November 14, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church of Magee. Visitation will be at the church, prior to the service, from 9:30 a.m. until service time. Burial will be in Magee Cemetery.
The epitome of elegance and grace, she was the consummate Southern Lady. Known for her infectious smile and gourmet cooking, she was a wonderful Mother, Sister, Aunt, and Grandmother.
She was introduced to the love of her life on the church steps after he spotted her and said, “Who is that beautiful girl? That’s who I want to marry!” A life long active member of First Baptist Church in Magee, she loved attending her Sunday School class. She was in the Magee Women’s Club and a charter member of the Belles and Beaus Supper Club. Cooking was her passion and she was happiest in her kitchen. She loved sending care packages of freshly baked chocolate chip cookies to family at USM and Ole Miss. Always concerned about making her home more beautiful, even in her last years, she would say, “What can I do to spruce up?”
For years she enjoyed a large rose garden, so there were always vases of roses throughout the house.
Preceding her into God’s nearer presence were husband, W.T. Rankin; parents, William and Ella Grubbs Jones; and brother, W.C. Jones. She is survived by sons, Joe D. Rankin (Judy) and Ronnie Rankin (Sandra); sister, Virginia Sanford; and grandsons, Jason Rankin (Marianne), Steven (Melanie), nephew , niece, and 7 great grandchildren. Memorials May be made to FBC, Magee; American Cancer Society, or Alzheimer’s Association.
