Harold "Hal" King, Jr. passed away on Tuesday, September 12, 2017, at the age of 61.
Hal was born in Hazlehurst, Mississippi where he was an honor graduate Of Copiah Academy and lettered in baseball and football. He attended Co-Lin Jr. College and graduated from Mississippi State University with a land surveying degree. He was employed by Chevron in New Orleans for 10 years and resided in Slidell, Louisiana. After moving to Lafayette, Hal was employed by Fenstermaker and Associates, C&C Technologies and Oceaneering.
Hal was precise and punctual in every endeavor from his work ethic to individual goals. He coached his son's baseball teams, was an avid runner and Red Sox Fan. He loved surveying the land, his family, work, friends and his pets. Hal had a wonderful sense of humor and a kind, loving heart.
Hal was preceded in death by his fatherr, Harold E. King, Sr.; his maternal grandparents, Harold A. and Nell Slay; and his paternal grandparents, Earl and Willana King.
He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Lucy; his son, Matthew Stephen King; his mother, Patricia Slay King; his sister, Carol King Rhodes and husband, Dusty; and his father-in-law, sisters-in-law, numerous nieces and nephews with a host of family and friends.
A graveside service will be held on Sunday, September 17, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Mendenhall City Cemetery in Mendenhall. Interment will follow.
