Sybil Herbert, Mendenhall, MS

Sybil Sanders Herbert passed away on September 5, 2017, after a lengthy battle with cancer.  She was born on July 25, 1933, to parents, William Jennings Sanders and Ola Keys Sanders.
 
She is survived by her husband of sixty-five years, Douglas C. Herbert; her children, Douglas, Jr. (Toni), Bill, Mark (Darlene), Lisa Hilton (Cary) and her nephew, Franz Sanders. She also is survived by six grandchildren; Chris Herbert, Elizabeth Herbert, Kathy Herbert Bull (Bill), Mollie Herbert Davis (Lane), Carie Hilton Liptrot (Adrian), Nathan Hilton, and grandnephew Michael Sanders. Her seven great grandchildren are Morgan Bull, Anna Bull, Lindley Bull, Dixon Davis, Paxton Davis, Ivan Liptrot, and Orion Liptrot. Her siblings are Raymond Sanders (Ahlean), Jewel Doran (Will) and Jeanette Broussard. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Neil Sanders, and her brother in law, Ronald Broussard.
 
Sybil was a member of the Mendenhall United Methodist Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher, UMW president, secretary to the Administrative Board, and chairwoman of the Forever Young Group. She worked as a secretary for Mendenhall City Schools for 25 years. She was active in local bridge clubs and enjoyed entertaining friends.  She loved her family, friends and church. 
 
Visitation will be Friday, September 8, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m at Tutor Funeral Home in Mendenhall. Funeral services will be held at Mendenhall United Methodist Church on Saturday, September 9, at 11:00 a.m. with one hour of visitation before the service. Officiating will be Reverend Doctor Kurt Appel. Interment will be at Mendenhall City Cemetery following the service.
