Don G. Harris, 64, a business owner, passed into eternity in the comfort of his home, cared for by loving family members and friends.  He battled cancer in the same manner he faced any obstacle in his life, with dignity and courage.
Visitation for friends and family will be held Friday, June 10, 2011, from 6 pm to 8 pm at Tutor Funeral Home.  A funeral service celebrating his life will be held at first Baptist Church of Magee on Saturday, June 11, 2011, at 11:00 am.
He graduated from Mendenhall High School where he excelled in football, baseball and track and was voted "Most Athletic".
Don graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi with a Bachelor of Science degree and was a member of the Golden Eagle Football Team.
Don and his wife, Joy joined the family business, Foster Furniture Company, after college and became the owners in 1977.  He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Magee.
Don served on the Simpson Academy Board of Directors, Magee Chamber of Commerce, Simpson County Economic Development Board and D'Lo Water Park Board.
Don, known to many as "Daddy Don", was an avid supporter of athletics.  He coached T-Ball and Little League Baseball teams for many years.  Loving the outdoors, Don was a hunter and fisherman.  He was also an avid gardener, an artist and a musician.  Don was a genealogy buff who loved researching his family history.
He is survived by: his wife, Joy Foster Harris of Magee; daughter, Joell Harris McBeth and husband Scotty McBeth of Brandon; son, Scott Foster Harris and wife Brec Harris of Hattiesburg; daughter Jennifer Harris Moulton and husband Ben Moulton of Roswell, GA; his grandchildren, Megan Elizabeth McBeth, Evan Alexander McBeth of Brandon; Scott Miles Harris, Rebecca Foster Harris of Hattiesburg; Hannah Mary Moulton, Alice Belle Moulton of Roswell, GA; and step sister, Kathy Sykes of Mendenhall.
He was preceded in death by his parents E.G. and Mary Esther Jones Harris of Mendenhall; brother, Larry Green Harris of Mendenhall; step mother, Helen Harris, and step brother, Frank W. Barrett, both of Mendenhall.
