Mrs. Earnestine Rankin Larry, daughter of the late Mrs. Anna Jaynes, was born on July 16, 1954 in Mendenhall, MS. She departed this life Saturday, February 9, 2013 at Inova Fairfax Hospital in Fairfax, Virginia.

As a child, Earnestine attended Zion Hill M.B. Church. She grew up in Simpson County, where she graduated high school and attended Mary Holmes Junior College, West Point, Mississippi, before graduating Mississippi State University in 1976 and receiving her masters there in 1977. Earnestine married then Air Force Capt. Horace Larry in 1979 and over the course of their marriage moved to Charleston, SC, Porcia, Italy, San Antonio, TX, Washington, DC, Montgomery, AL, and Roveredo, Italy, before settling in Woodbridge, VA in 2001. Throughout these years she worked as a librarian and special education teacher.

Earnestine leaves to cherish her memory her husband Col. (Ret) Horace L. Larry of 33 years, and her son Marques Ramon Larry. Other survivors include brother: Dr. H.L. (Lela) Berry, West Point, MS; sisters: Joann Stubbs of Magee, MS, Vera Manuel of Los Angeles, CA, and Maryann (Randolph) Dampeer of Mendenhall, MS;  two aunts, Zellia Jaynes of Mendenhall, MS, and Madie Jaynes of Markham, IL; eight brother-in-laws, Johnnie (LaVerne) of Biloxi, MS, Bobby of Houston, TX, Jimmy of West Point, MS, Charlie of Raleigh, NC, Darryl of West Point, MS, Thomas (Teresa) of Goldsboro, NC, Alonzo (Elsa) of West Point, MS, Michael (Katherine) of Columbus, MS; four sister-in-laws, Josephine Plummer of Detroit, MI, Mable Richardson of Grand Cayman Island, Brenda (Larry) Moye of Bossier City, LA, and Patricia (Jourden) Johnson of Boston, MA, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.

Earnestine was preceded in death by her father, mother, and brothers (Joe Jr., Herdie, Charles, Howard, Roy, and Willie); one brother-in-law: Doniell, and one sister-in-law: Sharon.

Arrangements were entrusted to Tutor Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Friday, February, 15, 2013 at Tutor Funeral Home in Magee, MS from 2:00pm until 8:00pm. Services will be 1:00 pm Saturday, February 16, 2013, at Zion Hill M.B. Church with interment following in Zion Hill M.B. Church Cemetery. Dr. Rev. F. Bernard Mitchell and Rev. Glasco Floyd officiating.
