James Earl Harvey, 86, passed away February 22, 2013. James Earl was born on October 30, 1926 in Simpson County. James Earl and Polly were married August 12, 1951 in Martinville, MS at the home of the bride. James Earl worked for the A & P Tea Company as a store manager in various locations in Mississippi and Louisiana before moving back to Mendenhall and opening his own grocery stores.

James Earl ensured that his family was active in church. They were all members of First Baptist Church in Mendenhall where he served in various capacities to include Deacon, Sunday School teacher, and choir member. James Earl and Polly moved to Clinton in 1996 and became members of Morrison Heights Baptist Church where they immediately became part of a loving church family. He was a Master Mason, a member of the Scottish Rite and Wahabi Shrine.

Married for 61 years, James Earl is survived by his loving wife, Polly Barr Harvey. Other survivors include his children, James Rickie (Summer) Harvey of Tickfaw LA, Rodney Guy (BJ) Harvey of McKinney TX, Randy Keith Harvey of Union, MS, Roxann (Eric) Lantrip of Brandon, MS; 6 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. He is also survived by one brother, Tommy Joe (Ann) Harvey and two sisters, Doris Williams and Betty (Ardis) Barr.

The family has requested that memorials be sent to the Gideons or Morrison Heights Baptist Church building fund.

Visitation will be held , Sunday, February 24, 2013 at Morrison Heights Baptist Church in Clinton from 1:00 pm until funeral services at 2:00 pm at the church. Dr. Greg Belser, Dr. Charles Schreiber and Rev. Robin Nichols will officiate.  Burial will follow at Mendenhall City Cemetery.  Arrangements entrusted to Tutor Funeral Home Mendenhall, MS.
