Ollen D. McAlpin, 88, of Magee passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2012, at the VA Hospital in Collins. Ollen was born in Smith County on December 23, 1923, a son of the late Lora (Hughes) and W. D. McAlpin. He is survived by: his wife, Doris McAlpin; a son,Daniel (Dianne) McAlpin, of Magee; a daughter, Judy McAlpin (Stephen) Grimes, of Brandon; two step sons James (Evangelia) Ware, of Mize; Tommy (Karen) Ware, of Columbia; and a brother, Boyd McAlpin, of Magee. He is also survived by six grandchildren: Dana (Rick) Brohaugh, Chip (Shea) McAlpin, Andy Mundy, Drummonds McAlpin, Kelli Nichols, and Erin (Brett) Smith. Great grandchildren are: Beth, Shelby, Hailey and Ridge Brohaugh; Anna Grace, Sydney and Mailey McAlpin; Karley Nichols; Bryce and Hampton Smith; Caroline and Cannon McAlpin; and Morgan and Davis Mundy.
Ollen, a retired county supervisor and farmer, was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Betty Ashley McAlpin; a brother, Ezelle McAlpin; two sisters, Jean McAlpin Payne and Mary Lou McAlpin Amason; and a granddaughter, Ashley Dawn Williamson.
Visitation will be Wednesday, January 18, 2012, from 5 pm until 8 pm at Tutor Funeral Home, Magee. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Beulah Baptist Church, Post Office Box 310, Magee, MS 39111.
Religious services will be at Tutor Funeral Home Chapel, Magee, at 11:00 am on Thursday, January 19, 2012, with Rev. Maxwell Price officiating. Interment will be in Magee City Cemetery.
