IRVIN TURNER, MIZE, MS Irvin Turner of Mize passed away Thursday, August 30, 2012. He was born in Anson, TX on March 24, 1930, to Sam and Myrtle (Harrell) Turner. On August 12, 1960, he married Mary Katherine Jones with whom he celebrated 52 years of marriage.
He served in the United States Armed Forces during the Korean War. He later began a career with Amaco Oil Company, which transferred him to Mississippi. He retired as a business owner in the poultry industry. He was an active member of Mize United Methodist Church, First United Methodist Church of Magee, and the American Legion. He was also elected by the State of Mississippi Executive Department to the Office of Alderman of Mize. He enjoyed his friends and family, especially when he was playing dominoes. He was a giving individual that touched the lives of many. He is survived by his wife, Mary Katherine (Jones) Turner, of Mize; a brother, Donald Tuner and wife Theresa, of Amarillo, TX; stepsisters Jane McIntyre and Jo Bledsoe; sister-in-law Eddis Terrell; two nieces, Caron Turner and Lisa Frierson, and seven great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Myrtle Turner; two brothers, Roy Harrell and Clyde Turner; and stepbrother James Lackey.

Visitation will be held Saturday, September 1, 2012, at Tutor Funeral Home in Magee from 5 pm until 8 pm, and Sunday, September 2, 2012, at Mize United Methodist Church from 2 pm until 3 pm. A religious service will follow at 3 pm Sunday at Mize United Methodist Church. Interment will be in Jones Family cemetery.
