Edward Lee Joiner, 73, of Magee passed away Monday, May 10, 2010, at Hospice Ministries, Ridgeland, MS. Edward was born in Oxford, MS on February 12, 1937, a son of the late Mary (Womack) and Richard Joiner. He was married to May Lee (Barber) Joiner who survives him. Edward, a retired chef from Sanatorium, Boswell and Millcreek, is survived by: two daughters, Barbara Kay McDonald of AL, and Shemicia Barber of Pearl; five sons, Romanuel Barber, Joey Barber, Erin Barber, and Jimmy Joiner, all of Mendenhall; Scott Coleman of Wisconsin, and a step son, Rev. Lowery (Bill) Griffith, of Magee. He is survived by fifteen grandchildren.
Edward is also survived by three sisters: Docia Easterling, of Chicago, IL; Marilyn Pepper, of Iowa; Deborah Payne, of Mendenhall; and two brothers, Charles Joiner, of Prentiss, and Jerry Joiner, of Mendenhall.
Visitation will be at Tutor Funeral Home, Magee, on Friday, May 14, 2010, from 5 pm to 8 pm. Religious services will be held Saturday, May 15, 2010, at 11:00 am in the Tutor Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Paul Fleming and Rev. Lowery (Bill) Griffith officiating.
Interment with military honors will be in Southern Memorial Gardens, Magee, MS.
